At the 2023 Oppo Developers Conference, Oppo and Microsoft revealed plans to enhance the connectivity between Oppo, OnePlus, and Realme phones and Windows 11/10 PCs. The collaboration brings support for Microsoft’s Phone Link and Link to Windows apps to these smartphones.
However, users need to update their devices to the latest version of ColorOS (Oppo), OxygenOS (OnePlus), or Realme UI (Realme) to unlock these features.
Features to Expect: Phone Link and Link to Windows
Users of Oppo, OnePlus, and Realme phones can anticipate several benefits. With Phone Link, they gain access to phone screen mirroring, enabling remote display of their smartphone screen on a Windows PC.
The Link to Windows feature goes beyond screen mirroring; it enables synchronization of the clipboard, quick file sharing, and viewing camera roll images on the PC. Additionally, users can manage phone calls and respond to texts without reaching for their smartphones.
Software Update Required for Full Functionality
To enjoy the newly introduced features, users will need to patiently await a software update. Oppo Find and Oppo Reno series owners are expected to receive Phone Link support with the arrival of ColorOS 14. Meanwhile, OnePlus and Realme phone users will have to wait for the release of OxygenOS 14 and Realme UI 5, respectively.
Previously exclusive to Microsoft’s Surface devices and select phones, Phone Link app now extends its reach to Oppo Find series, Oppo Reno series, OnePlus series, and Realme series. The Link to Windows feature, allowing seamless integration between phones and Windows PCs, also becomes accessible to users of these Chinese OEMs.
What’s Next: Integration for Seamless User Experience
The collaboration between Oppo, OnePlus, Realme, and Microsoft aims to streamline the user experience, offering improved connectivity and functionality. As the software updates roll out, users can look forward to a more integrated and efficient connection between their smartphones and Windows PCs.
