Is my battery swollen?

A variety of problems—some rather subtle, or impossible to ignore—can indicate that the internal battery is swelling, such as the screen not closing properly, a gap between the upper and lower parts of the case(enclosure splitting), a failure to sit perfectly flat, system rocking when placed on an even surface, touchpad or keyboard lifting or not working properly, and keyboard and touchpad might begin to warp or could start protruding. Sometimes it may be accompanied by: overheating, fast-draining battery.

If your system has gone through 500-600 charge-discharge cycles, you should replace the battery on priority basis, some users who wait till the battery backup comes down to 5 minutes and don’t consider to replace the laptop battery then the battery can swell.

With an iPhone or iPad, a swollen battery is usually obvious because it starts to warp the case and can even crack the screen—it all depends on where the swelling takes place and what part of the device gives way first.

In some cases, a swollen battery may also leak, resulting in a very pungent strong smell of metal. This can easily damage other components to the point where it may be unable to be used.
If you smell burning or metal, it is best that you immediately stop all operations on your laptop and let it be looked at by a professional.

Why Do Laptop Batteries Swell?

It is known to all that almost all batteries are lithium batteries now. When charging, the lithium electronic polymer will produce a small amount of gas when it is discharged, which will cause a slight expansion, that’s normal. Overtime that gas will build up and cause the battery to expand.
Other Causes of Laptop Battery Swelling

1- overcharging.
2- Manufacturing defect, such as no protective plate inside, unreasonable distribution of positive and negative plates, uneven distribution of lye (electrolyte),etc.
3- Exposure to high temperature, the battery will be overheated and deformed.
4- Deep discharge.
5- Damage to the battery, such as damage to the membranes that separate the internal layers of the battery.
6- Natural aging.
7-Using a charger of the wrong voltage rating.

The Redmi K60 could also adopt the Dynamic Island of the iPhone 14 Pro

Redmi K60: will it come with Dynamic Island?
Rumours speculate that this flagship smartphone line-up will be available no earlier than 2023. In fact, information reports a debut for early next year. There should be models with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 and devices with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Unfortunately, the leaks end there.

Apple introduced the new iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max a few weeks ago with this unprecedented feature: the notch gives way to the Dynamic Island, an interactive system that features selfies, sensors and a pop-up notification system that changes size depending on the app. It is now only compatible with system apps and some third-party software, but should be compatible with all programmes in the future.

To date, the full list of compatible apps has been made public by the youtuber MKBHD; the guy also demonstrated how all the dynamic island options work. According to him, ‘in the coming months, many Android OEMs will copy this feature’.

IPHONE 14 PRO review

Packaging and content
Apple’s packaging is familiar. Apart from the iPhone, all we find is the USB-C to Lightning cable and an Apple sticker.

Materials design and touch-and-feel
The materials of the Pro are glass and steel instead of aluminium, compared to which it is stronger but also heavier. The thickness is 7.9 millimetres and the weight 206 grams, but in the hand it holds well, the dimensions are just right and the grip is there.

Yes, we can finally say it for an iPhone too: the always-on display is there! Regarding connectivity we find 5G, WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, dual-band GPS and, in the US only, satellite service to send emergency calls.

Display
The display is a 6.1-inch LTPO OLED with 120Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision, and a peak brightness of 2,000 nits, which is flawless when set to minimum and is always clearly visible when set to maximum, even in direct sunlight, the sensor adjusting it automatically being dual. In short I would say the best display ever seen on an iPhone, on a par with Samsung’s tops with the only flaw, common to the iPhone 13 Pro, that when it gets really hot it goes into a sort of protection mode and reduces the maximum brightness.

Processor and memory
The processor is Apple’s 4nm A16 Bionic flanked by 6GB of RAM and 128, 256, 512GB or 1TB of non-expandable internal storage.

Battery
The battery is a 3,200mAh 12.4 Wh that charges at 20W, 50% in 30 minutes, or wirelessly at 15W. It might seem small, but combined with the new 4nm A16 chip and iOS 16 optimisation the result is great, reaching the end of my stress day with still 25/30% or 15% if we keep always-on.

Software and ecosystem
iOS 16 has several new features that we have already talked about but the real innovation here, both hardware and software is the Dynamic Island. Apple has managed to turn what would be a classic and ugly hole in the display into something pleasant or even useful. Useful because this ‘island’ that expands and adapts to incoming notifications or the main info of apps running in the background shows information that was previously not shown, or in any case makes it accessible only with a touch, acting as a shortcut.

Phone department
The phone department is excellent both in terms of reception and audio quality, whether capsule or speakerphone. What is really anachronistic now is the dialer, which does not allow a quick search among contacts and does not warn of possible SPAM numbers.

Internet connection, you’re surfing slower: here’s the trick that will make it faster

First of all, the first piece of advice we give you before you even get your hands on the settings of your PCs and smart devices, is trivially to perform a connection test, so that you can see what problems you are experiencing in both download and, possibly, upload. For this, we recommend Ookla’s Speedtest, which can be used free of charge at this address.

One of the first solutions you can possibly adopt in the event of a slow connection is to change the DNS servers, i.e. those servers responsible for translating the nodes of the network into IP addresses. If you have Windows as your operating system, simply go to ‘Network and Internet’ and change the value of the DNS parameter, filling it in with the following value, “8.8.8.8/8.8.4.4″, which corresponds to Google’s DNS.

If you have a MacBook with the MacOS operating system, on the other hand, you will need to go to Preferences, click on Network, continue on Advanced, and change the DNS parameter, both primary and secondary, again with the value 8.8.8.8/8.8.4.4 mentioned above. Changing the Wi-Fi channel can also be a good solution to avoid interference that would significantly slow down your Internet connection. In this case, you will need to turn to the settings of your router (reachable by entering the address 192.168.1.1 in the search bar of your browser).

If you use your wireless device far away from your home router (perhaps on a different floor from where the router itself is located), it is useful to make use of a wireless repeater, which connects to the router and extends the Wi-Fi connection, avoiding the risk of slowing it down due to distance. Even between browsers, surfing speed changes. If you are using Internet Explorer, for example, our advice is to try switching to Google Chrome, which allows you to open web pages faster.

EVGA closes relationship with Nvidia: No more EVGA GeForce video cards?

The closure towards Nvidia, reported by Gamers Nexus and other sources close to the PC gaming hardware industry, has been explained with a number of points, which basically concern the actual sustainability of the production and sale of these cards. Reportedly, the problem concerns the inability to find better commercial agreements with Nvidia.

The Founder’s Editions of Nvidia GPUs cost less than EVGA models, and the latter cannot lower their prices too much and overlap with those offered by Nvidia due to legal agreements imposed by the video architecture company.

The inability to better regulate the price of the cards is reflected in substantial losses for EVGA, which is reportedly losing “hundreds of dollars” per card brought to market, prompting the abandonment of Nvidia’s GPU business despite the fact that it constitutes the vast majority of EVGA’s business.

The 7 most commonly used programming languages in 2021

In this month of July 2021, the TIOBE index celebrates its 20th anniversary. It was in July 2001 that it published for the first time the ranking of the most used programming languages. 20 years ago, Java dominated this ranking by far, followed by C and C++. Python was then in seventh position, far behind.

Python aims for the top, PHP rises, and TypeScript takes off

Next are C++, C#, and Visual Basic, which are all down except for C++, which continues to follow Python closely with a nice 1.80% increase. In seventh place, JavaScript tries painfully to climb back up the rankings with an increase of 0.23%. As you may have noticed, PHP used by giants like Facebook or WordPress, does not appear in this top 7. For the simple reason that it occupies the 8th place. This is rather promising for this ever so popular language which was in 9th place in 2020.

In conclusion, Python has been gaining ground in the last few months and could quickly consider taking the top spot in this ranking. Python is particularly widespread in the scientific world, and has many optimized libraries for numerical computation. This language is also considered a good entry point into the world of web development for beginners to understand the logic of programming.

We can also notice an interesting change on the TypeScript side, which moves from the 45th position to the 37th. TypeScript is a strict syntax superset of JavaScript that was created by Microsoft. Its purpose is to improve and secure the production of JavaScript code. Many developers who are comfortable with JavaScript are gradually switching to TypeScript.

ZTE YouCare, the 5G smart T-shirt with polymer sensors

Remote monitoring of a large number of an individual’s bio-vital parameters that can be transmitted, intelligently, thanks to 5G. This is the goal of YouCARE, a service announced by ZTE at MWC2021, which opened its doors today in Barcelona.

A “wearable” technology, easy to use, which involves the use of a t-shirt without metal components and with textile polymeric sensors (“E-Textile”), imperceptible, natively “immersed” in the washable fabric, which allow the detection of the electrical activity of the heart, the analysis of respiratory acts and components of sweat, muscle effort and body temperature.

All these data can be recorded and transmitted through a miniaturized control unit that converts them into digital format and sends them, thanks to ZTE’s 5G connection to a bidirectional platform that in turn transmits them to the user’s smartphone or smartwatch and to a remote unit that analyzes the values thanks to medical software.

For Windows 11, here are the update requirements: How to check if your PC is compatible

Windows 11 will likely be available starting in November, but the free upgrade for PCs running Windows 10 is scheduled for 2022 – roughly by June. So there remains the unknown of whether your personal computer will be compatible and technologically adequate to meet the demands of the new operating system.

Minimum requirements for Windows 11

Microsoft has communicated the basic requirements to install Windows 11 on a PC. Specifically it requires:

What is the Trusted Platform Module (TPM)?

Windows 11’s minimum hardware requirements, minus the acronyms, acronyms and gibberish, are met by most PCs in circulation over the past five years. The only criticality is in that “Trusted Platform Module (TPM) version 2.0” that probably only engineers and a few enthusiasts know about. It’s a small hardware component on PC and laptop boards that takes care of computer security. In practice, it is present in all products designed for businesses, in all consumer computers of the last four years and in all computers equipped with at least 8th generation Intel or AMD Ryzen 2000 processors. If you have assembled your own PC or if you have relied on a retailer to do so, you will have to check for its presence on the components or in the data sheets: usually the TMP is integrated in the processor or it is a chip on the motherboard. Finally, it must be remembered that the module may be present but without the correct activation that is done by intervening on the BIOS parameters of your computer.

For “smart” users

A U.S. developer has published on his official page of the GitHub community a software, called WhyNotWin11, which allows you to verify the hardware compatibility of your PC with the future Windows 11. Just download it and run it to get the response and identify any critical issues. Obviously this is not an official tool and you should proceed with caution. Anyway, online users are appreciating its qualities. A simple method to check the presence or status of TMP on your PC is to type the term “tmp” in the Windows search string. At that point a page will appear where you can simply click on the “Security processor” entry to get every informative detail about the mounted version.
