OnePlus Open Official Unboxing Video Reveals Design

OnePlus is planning to launch its first foldable smartphone called the OnePlus Open. Recently, Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma was seen using the phone. The company has now revealed the design of the OnePlus Open in an unboxing video made in collaboration with the UnboxTherapy YouTube channel.

OnePlus Open Revealed In Official Unboxing Video

Popular Youtuber Lewis Hilstenger recently unboxed the OnePlus Open foldable smartphone while interviewing the CEO of OnePlus, Pete Lau. The co-founder of OnePlus explained that he oversees both Oppo and OnePlus, so both companies have collaborated to design the OnePlus Open.

The OnePlus Open Has A Completely Flat Hinge
The OnePlus Open unboxing video reveals the phone’s hinge becomes flat when folded, leaving no gap behind. Compared to the Oppo Find N2, it has 31 fewer components and is 37 per cent smaller. Due to the gapless hinge, he demonstrated that the phone can hold a piece of paper between its hinge.

This also increases the lifecycle of the hinge as it uses fewer moving components, and the company has 35 patents related to the new hinge. The key focus is reducing the size and the weight while increasing the strength of the hinge. Lau claimed that they have also improved the material used in the phone, making it lighter and mor” compact than the Find N2.

Furthermore, Lau claims that the””OnePlus Open is the best folding phone you can get right now”.He states that users want a foldable phone that offers a light and slim design apart from a large-screen expe”ience. Lau assures users t”at the Open will provide the same “fast and smooth experience” found on other OnePlus devices.

OnePlus Is Working With Google To Adapt Apps On Larger Screen
The company is also working closely with Google to adapt apps seamlessly onto the larger screen. The Open will also retain the iconic alert slider found on OnePlus phones. Moreover, the phone is jointly developed by Oppo and OnePlus.

The company will adopt a different marketing strategy for each region, meaning only the Find N2 or the Open will be available in a specific region. Furthermore, the company currently has no plans to introduce a flip-style foldable.

Pixel 8 Pro Leaked By Google Ahead Of Launch

The Google Pixel lineup is notorious for being the most leaked devices. The company has once again accidentally leaked its upcoming flagship. The Google Pixel 8 Pro has leaked on the Google Store before its official release.

Pixel 8 Pro Leaked On Google Store

The company published a new set of images on the services and subscription page of Google Store. The photo shows a man talking on the phone, reportedly the Pixel 8 Pro. It is the Porcelain colour of the upcoming flagship phone. The image’s alt text confirms it: “A person takes a call on a Pixel 8 Pro phone in Porcelain.

The Pixel 8 Pro design corresponds with the previous leaks as the image shows the three-camera sensor sitting together, aligned vertically in the camera module. There is also another tiny hole below the circular LED flash, which could be the body temperature sensor.

This design differs from the Google Pixel 7 Pro, where the visor separates the three cameras on the back. The Porcelain colour is also new for the Pixel lineup, and the Pixel 8 Pro is rumoured to come in Jade, Licorice and Sky colours.

Google Pixel 8 Pro Expected Specifications and Availablity
The watch in the image is also speculated to be the upcoming Google Pixel Watch 2. The Pixel 8 Pro will make its debut in October at the company’s Google I/O event. The phone will feature a 6.7-inch Full-HD LTPO OLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate. It will run on the Tensor G3 chipset and the new Android 14 out of the box. Samsung Confirms It Is Working On Foldable Tablet And Laptop

Samsung is planning to introduce new foldable tablets and laptops into the market. An executive has confirmed that the company plans to add these new form factors to the foldable category.

Samsung Could Release A Foldable Tablet In The Future
Samsung has had experience in creating foldable devices for a while and has launched five versions of its foldable smartphones. Last month, the South Korean giant launched the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5. These devices brought substantial upgrades and improvements over their predecessor.

The Business Head of Samsung Mobile eXperience, TM Roh, has now confirmed in an interview that Samsung is preparing to launch new foldable tablets and laptops. Roh expresses the company’s confidence in the viability of a foldable Android tablet, citing the popularity of the tablet market. He further says that it is a part of “human nature for so long to read books or use notebooks”.

Samsung Is Also Working On A Foldable Laptop
Roh claims that similar to notebooks, foldable tablets are easy to carry anywhere and will protect the information stored inside. Samsung is “investing a lot of resources” to bring folding technology to tablets and laptops. He says the company is ready to deliver “meaningful innovation” to consumers once the foundational technology is developed.

Roh believes that for a folding tablet to be successful, it needs to “include a screen large enough to be easily used, in a thin form factor”. He cited the recently launched Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra with a 14.6-inch display as an example. However, he did not elaborate on a definite launch timeline for these products.

Samsung has been teasing the possibility of folding tablets for a while. The company showcased a foldable tablet concept at CES last year. Rumours had also surfaced that the company would release a “Galaxy Z Tab” at its Unpacked event, but they proved to be wrong. Reports suggest that companies like Apple and Google are also exploring the potential of foldable tablets, meaning that Samsung could face competition in the future.
