Apple Discontinues Touch Bar With The Release Of New MacBook Pros

Apple recently launched its new MacBook Pro lineup in two different sizes: 14-inch and 16-inch. The company replaced the 13-inch MacBook Pro with the 14-inch one featuring the new M3 chipset. This also marks the end of the Touch Bar as the company has discontinued the 13-inch MacBook Pro.

End Of The Road For Touch Bar As Apple Discontinues 13-inch Model
Apple has discontinued the 13-inch MacBook Pro with Touch Bar by releasing the new M3 MacBook Pros. The Touch Bar is considered one of the controversial features of the MacBook, as many people hated it.

For those unaware, the Touch Bar was an OLED strip below the display that uses touch and compliments the keyboard’s function. The strip made its debut in 2016 with the MacBook Pro. It showed various things like suggestions while typing and shortcuts for emoji and Siri.

Touch Bar Faced Criticism As It Replaced Physical Keys
It replaced the physical function keys used for controlling the brightness and volume of the MacBook. This proved to be divisive, as many preferred the convenience of physical keys.

Furthermore, the Touch Bar also showed shortcuts for launching apps and app-specific settings such as tabs when browsing Safari. Due to the lack of widespread support, too much touch sensitivity and poor compatibility with third-party apps, users often criticized the Touch Bar.

Apple initially took the first step towards discontinuing the Touch Bar with the 2021 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro by replacing them with tactile function keys. Now, the company is marking the end of the Touch Bar by ceasing the production of the 13-inch MacBook Pro.

It has replaced the smallest MacBook Pro with a larger 14-inch model featuring the M3 chipset. There is a possibility that the Cupertino Giant may introduce a new 13-inch MacBook Pro model with an M3 chip sometime next year.

iOS 17.1 Update Coming Soon, Will Fix This Issue On iPhone 12

Apple has been constantly releasing new software updates ever since the arrival of the iOS 17. The company recently fixed the overheating issue on the Apple iPhone 15 Pro models with the iOS 17.0.3 update. It now plans to release the iOS 17.1 update to fix the radiation issue on the ageing Apple iPhone 12. The high SAR values on the older iPhone had sparked controversy in France, and this new update could finally fix it.

iOS 17.1 Update Will Fix Radiation Issue on iPhone 12

According to Agence Nationale Des Fréquence (ANFR), the iOS 17.1 update will arrive on October 24 for the iPhone 12. It will likely come on other iPhones on the same day globally, as most iOS updates usually do. The French government had raised concerns regarding the phone’s emission levels and even banned the device’s sales in the country.

According to Apple, all iPhones have an off-body detection mechanism to detect when the phone is on a static surface. This is used to optimize performance in off-body scenarios. Furthermore, it says the French regulators did not account for this protocol, which led to the high SAR values.

The new iOS 17.1 update will reduce the radiation level when the phone is on a static surface. The latest update reduces the phone’s power when kept on a table. Apple says this could result in slightly lower cellular performance in low-signal areas. However, the company claims that most consumers will unlikely notice the change.

The new update will also have several improvements like a new favourite feature in Apple Music, support for AirDrop via the internet, and the option to check bank and card balances in the Wallet app.

Furthermore, the update will add a flashlight indicator to Dynamic Island, better photo shuffle on the lock screen, and support for the Nintendo N6 controller. It will also allow you to turn off certain Action Button functionalities like Camera, Flashlight, Voice Memo and Magnifier when the iPhone is kept in your pocket.

Apple iPhone 16 Pro Rumours Suggest It Will Have These Features!

Apple recently launched the iPhone 15 series with substantial upgrades across the board. It is now working on the next-generation iPhone 16 series with new features. Rumours suggest the Apple iPhone 16 Pro series will significantly improve with a new modem and camera setup. Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming iPhone models.

Apple iPhone 16 Pro Will Get New 5G Modem And Cameras
According to analyst Jeff Hu, the iPhone 16 Pro will have Wi-Fi 7 connectivity, an upgrade from the Wi-Fi 6e on previous iPhones. Furthermore, the new iPhones will also get Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X75 modem for faster 5G download speeds. These improvements should allow the next-generation iPhones to offer better battery life apart from faster Wi-Fi and modem speeds.

Both phones are also expected to get a new 48-megapixel ultrawide sensor, an upgrade from the 12-megapixel sensor. Moreover, the iPhone 16 Pro will have a 12-megapixel tetra-prism lens with 5x zoom, which is currently exclusive to the Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max. The rumours suggest the iPhone 16 Pro will have these new sensors as Apple plans to increase their dimensions.

The new iPhones will also get a slightly bigger screen with an increase of 0.2 inches on both phones. This will result in a screen size of 6.3 inches on the iPhone 16 Pro and 6.9 inches on the Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max. Analysts Ming-Chi Kuo and Ross Young have also suggested larger screen sizes in the upcoming iPhones.

These new iPhones will use the Apple A18 Pro Bionic chipset based on the 3nm process paired with 8GB of RAM. This is the same amount of RAM on the current iPhone 15 Pro models.

Regular iPhone 16 Models Will Get Faster Processor
Jeff believes the Apple iPhone 16 base model will get a less powerful version of the A17 chip, and the phone will stick to two camera lenses on the back. It will have the same 12-megapixel ultrawide lens without auto-focus and macro mode support.

However, it will have 8GB of RAM compared to the 6GB on the current Apple iPhone 15. The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus will get minor upgrades to Wi-Fi connectivity with Wi-Fi 6e and will retain the same 5G modem as its predecessors. The new iPhone models could arrive in September next year, meaning there is plenty of time for specifications to change.

iPhone 12 Radiation Issue Fix: Apple Releases New iOS Update

Apple has released a new iOS update to fix the radiation issue on the iPhone 12. The phone sparked a massive controversy after the French authorities raised concerns about the radiation emissions from the device. The Cupertino giant has now released an iOS update to address the issue on the device.

What Is The Radiation Controversy?

The Apple iPhone 12 surpassed the radiation regulation levels in the European Union. The Agence Nationale Des Fréquence (ANFR) tested more than 141 phones to measure their SAR (Specific Absorption Rate). It found that the electromagnetic energy absorption emitted by the iPhone 12 is 5.74 watts per kilogram, higher than the EU’s 4 watts per kilogram limit.

This led the country to ban device sales, although Apple already discontinued it. The company claims the device is safe and meets all emissions requirements. Apple assured the government that it would fix the issue with a software update. It has now released a new iOS update to resolve the issue.

Apple Fixes Radiation Issue On iPhone 12
Apple has now released a new iOS 17.1 update to fix the radiation emission issue on the iPhone 12. This update will be available for users in France. Furthermore, the company has issued a statement explaining the reason behind the emission surge.

According to Apple, all iPhones have an off-body detection mechanism to detect when the phone is on a static surface. This is used to optimize performance in off-body scenarios. It claims the phone has been certified by multiple international bodies and complies with all radiation standards.

Apple says the French authority used a protocol that measured the radiation in this mode and did not account for off-body detection. The new software update tries to account for the protocol.

The iOS 17.1 update will reduce the radiation level when the phone is on a static surface. The new update reduces the phone’s power when kept on a table. Apple says this could result in slightly lower cellular performance in low-signal areas. However, the company claims the vast majority of the audience is unlikely to notice the change.
