Apple Plans to Launch M4-Powered Mac Devices This Year

Apple is reportedly planning to extend its M4 chipset, which was introduced in May, to Mac devices later this year. The Cupertino-based tech giant could reportedly launch four Mac devices powered by its latest processor. Earlier this year, the company added the M4 SoC to the iPad Pro (2024) model, debuting the M-series chips on non-Mac hardware. The upcoming Mac devices with M4 chips are also said to have a base RAM of 16GB.

Apple to Launch M4-Powered Mac Devices

According to a report by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple might introduce new Mac devices with the upgraded M4 SoC a month after the launch of the iPhone 16 series. Most rumours have claimed that the iPhone 16 series could be announced in September, which means that the Mac devices could be launched in October. However, there is no confirmation of the launch timeline from Apple. Apple is testing four new Mac models for the rumoured October launch, Gurman claimed citing developer test logs seen by the publication. These devices were sotted with the labels 16.1, 16.2, 16.3, and 16.10. It is said that a smaller Mac mini, new MacBook Pro models, and upgraded iMac models could be introduced with the M4 chipset.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>Apple MacBook Pro 14 inch A2442 – Battery A2159 6100mAh

While not a lot is known about these devices at the time, the report claims another big upgrade for the Macs. Apple might increase the base variant’s RAM to 16GB from existing 8GB. Further, it is said that the Mac devices might be available in 16GB and 32GB RAM options. This claim is also interesting given the top variant of the MacBook with M3 chipset had 24GB RAM.On top of that, three of the four rumored models will reportedly come with a 10-core CPU and a 10-core GPU or graphics engine. The remaining model is said to feature a chipset with an 8-core CPU and GPU configuration. Notably, the iPad Pro (2024) also features a 10-core CPU and GPU setup.

However, the above information should be taken with a pinch of salt, as none of it comes directly from Apple. The iPhone maker launched its current lineup of M3-powered MacBook Pro models last year. The company introduced the 13-inch and 15-inch M3 MacBook Air models earlier this year in March.

Gmail AI Chatbot Coming Soon to Android

Gmail users on Android devices can now chat with Google’s AI assistant, Gemini, about their emails directly within the Gmail app. Google rolled out the new feature, Gmail Q&A, to users who pay to use Gemini on Thursday and announced that it’s coming to iOS devices, according to a blog post.

>>>>>>>>>>>>CAT Caterpillar B26 – Battery B26 1500mAh

With Gmail Q&A, users can access Google Gemini in the Gmail app as a personal assistant that can read your entire email inbox. Google says you can ask Gemini to summarize emails by stating things like, “Catch me up on the emails about quarterly planning.” You can also use the feature to search for specific details, such as asking Gemini, “How much did the company spend on the last marketing event?”

微信截图_20240830170258.png

Of course, when using this feature, you’ll have to put up with the occasional hallucination that can happen to even the best AI models, so maybe don’t believe everything it tells you.Traditionally, if you wanted to find information in Gmail, you could use the search bar at the top of Google. That feature isn’t going away, but a Gemini button will be added next to the search bar. It’s all part of Google’s shift from search to an AI chat model.Instead of finding raw emails through search, Gmail encourages users to let the AI chatbot summarize the information they’re looking for. However, it will still cite the source email in the answer. >>>>>>>>>>>>Doogee S58 Pro – Battery BAT20M125180 5180mAh 19.94WH

Paying users can access the feature by clicking the black star logo, which has come to represent Gemini across Google’s product suite, in the top-right corner of the app. For now, the Gmail Q&A feature only has access to your emails, but in the future, Google says it will connect to files in your Drive account, as well. In June, Gmail Q&A was rolled out to web users of Gmail who pay for Gemini or Google One AI Premium.

These users pay roughly $20 a month for AI features like this, part of Google’s product and application layer around Gemini. Gmail Q&A is unlikely to be available to free Gmail users anytime soon. Instead, Google is promoting features like Gmail Q&A to convince users that Gemini’s expensive monthly subscription fee is worth it. The company is also adding Gemini to all of its existing products, including Google Docs, Gmail, Google Calendar, and more – but it all comes at a price. So far, these AI products are Google’s best chance of generating revenue with Gemini.

Samsung’s Slim Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition: Could Come with a Top Camera

Even though the critically acclaimed Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 have only just been released a few weeks ago, it seems that Samsung’s best foldable phone of the year is yet to be released.

>>>>>>>>>Samsung BX916 – Battery EB-BX916ABY 10880mAh Initially rumored to be called the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra back in February and renamed the Z Fold 6 Slim a few months ago, the undoubtedly state-of-the-art book-style phone is now expected to be officially released as early as September (late), with the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition sounding like a much more appropriate name.

One of the reasons why this name sounds better to us than the Z Fold 6 Slim label is that the “special edition” device will likely bring more significant improvements than just a thinner form factor compared to the “regular” Z Fold 6.

A “special” foldable needs a special camera

>>>>>>>>>Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 – Battery EB-BF741ABE 2300mAh

Do you feel it’s a bit… absurd to pay $1,900 (and up) for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and receive a decidedly humbler camera system than what the $1,200 Galaxy S24 Ultra has to offer? Fret not, as you will probably be able to buy the Z Fold Special Edition with a top-of-the-line 200MP rear-facing snapper in tow soon… in South Korea and China. That’s right, Samsung’s most advanced foldable phone to date is expected to (by Evan Blass) feature the same primary imaging sensor as the company’s current most advanced non-foldable phone.

At this point, we’re not sure about the other Galaxy Z Fold special edition cameras, but upgrading from the Z Fold 6’s 50MP primary camera to a whopping 2 megapixels sounds like it could have a huge impact on the actual photography skills of future phones.
Unfortunately, this almost guaranteed improvement (as it is revealed by probably the most reputable mobile tech leaker out there) makes us even more pessimistic regarding the recommended price of the Z Fold Special Edition, aka Z Fold 6 Slim. Meanwhile, the odds of ever being able to buy the device in the US or Europe remain slim to non-existent.

The Z Fold Special Edition will be BIG and thinner than previously predicted Do you know those reports that claimed Samsung was going for an overall product thickness of around 11mm here, struggling to trim more than a millimeter off the Z Fold 6’s waist? By the looks of another fresh (ev)leak on X, the company has managed to knock the profile of the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition down to just 10.6mm after all. That’s a nice 1.5mm slimmer than the Galaxy Z Fold 6 (in folded form), with the unfolded thickness also reduced from 5.6 to a measly 4.9mm.

How do those measurements compare to the competition? Pretty favorably if you consider the OnePlus Open, for instance, although the Honor Magic V3 remains an unrivaled supermodel in today’s packed foldable landscape.

On the other hand, the Z Fold Special Edition may surpass the Magic V3 (and the OnePlus Open) in terms of screen size, apparently jumping all the way from the Fold 6’s 7.6-inch and 6.3-inch panels to 8 inches and 6.5 inches. That’s a lot of screen real estate, and it’s likely to require a lot of battery power to keep it going long enough between charges. There’s no word yet on the battery capacity of this phone.

How to Make Your Mobile Phone Battery Last Longer

If your current smartphone won’t charge in a day, here are some steps you can take to make it last longer.

Back-to-school sales and the fall may make upgrading to a new phone very tempting. But what if you need to wait a little longer, even if the battery in your old phone drained before lunch and you’re only trying to maintain it temporarily?

Thankfully, there are steps you can take to help save power, especially if you’re not ready to make a purchase because you’re waiting for this year’s new hardware offerings, terminating your carrier contract, or sorting out your finances. Here’s a guide.

微信截图_20240829164948.png

>>>>>>>>>>>Fujitsu Arrows NX9 – Battery CA54310-0081 3500mAh

Stretch It
Lithium-ion batteries degrade over time and charging cycles, and it’s not uncommon for a well-used device to experience shorter spans between charges after two or three years of regular use. Even with an older battery, reducing activities that need a lot of energy can provide more time between charges.

The usual suggestions — like turning down the screen’s brightness, avoiding processor-intensive games, keeping the phone cool or temporarily putting the device into Airplane Mode to cut down on network activity — can add minutes. Power-saving advice varies based on your hardware and its system software, so check with your manufacturer or wireless carrier for specific instructions for Android devices (including Google’s Pixel phones and Samsung’s Galaxy models) as well as for Apple’s phones and tablets.Apple and Google both include a feature that reduces power consumption with one tap: the iOS Low Power Mode or Android’s Battery Saver. (The name varies on Android devices; for example, some Samsung Galaxy phones may call it “Power saving mode.”)When the feature is enabled, the battery icon turns yellow as the mode reduces screen brightness, pauses some network activity (like online photo backup) and limits app actions like mail-fetching, automatic downloads and other battery burners. Processor speed may also be reduced, and as a result, the phone may run slower.

To find the power-reduction feature in iOS, open the phone’s main Settings icon, select Battery and tap the button to enable the mode. The iPhone’s Low Power Mode may kick in automatically when the battery gets low, but turning it on manually — even after you’ve just charged up — can help squeeze out more use.

In the Battery menu on many Android phones, you can choose between Standard Battery Saver and Extreme Battery Saver (for even more power-rationing) and put the mode on a schedule.

>>>>>>>>>>>Fujitsu CA54310-0074 – Battery CA54310-0074 2780mAh
Watch It
On most phones, the Battery Settings include other features that help you see the overall health of your battery, which may influence your decision on whether to upgrade your device.
The iOS Battery Settings screen includes graphs that show battery power and activity, as well as a list of apps that consume the most power. The Battery Health and Charging screen shows the maximum capacity of the battery; less than 100% means less time to charge. Optimize Battery Charging is usually turned on by default and is designed to extend battery life by reducing the time it takes to fully charge the battery, ultimately increasing the 300 to 500 charge cycles expected for most batteries.
Android’s battery settings include a usage screen to show which apps are consuming the most power, as well as a diagnostic tool to help troubleshoot battery issues. When enabled, Adaptive Battery Settings analyzes phone usage and adjusts how much power apps can access.

Replace It
If you choose to continue using your current phone, you have the option of replacing the battery. Check with your manufacturer for information on authorized repairs, especially if you have an extended warranty or phone insurance.Apple’s website has information on iPhone battery service, as does Google’s website for Pixel phones and Samsung’s website for Galaxy devices.

New NGate Android Malware Uses NFC Chip to Steal Cash

A dangerous new type of Android malware has surfaced that clones contactless payment data from physical credit and debit cards and forwards it to an attacker’s Android device to enable fraudulent transactions.ESET researchers are tracking the malware, called NGate, which they described this week as the first of its kind they’ve observed in the wild.

>>>>>>>>>>>>Sony SNYSHD4 – Battery SNYSHD4 5000mAh

微信截图_20240827150300.png

Leveraging a Legit Tool
NGate is actually based on NFCgate, a tool that students at Germany’s University of Darmstadt developed to capture, analyze, and alter near-field communication (NFC) traffic. NFC is what allows devices — such as smartphones — to communicate wirelessly with each other over short distances.

The university students have described NFCgate as a legitimate research tool for reverse-engineering protocols or for assessing protocol security in different traffic conditions.

Among other things, NFCgate can capture NFC traffic that applications running on an Android phone might send or receive; relay NFC traffic between two devices via a server; replay captured NFC traffic; and clone identification and other initial tag information. “I believe it’s for research purposes to demonstrate it is possible to extend the distance of NFC contactless communication — that is only up to 5 to 10 centimeters — by using Android phones,” says Lukas Stefanko, ESET’s senior malware researcher.

ESET observed a threat actor leveraging NFCGate’s capability in combination with phishing and social engineering lures to try and steal cash from victim bank accounts via fraudulent ATM transactions.

Sneaky Scam
The scam involves threatening actors, possibly a 22-year-old recently arrested by Czech authorities, sending text messages about tax issues to potential victims in the Czech Republic. Those who click on the link eventually receive a Progressive Web Application (PWA) or Web APK (Android package) that phishes for their banking credentials and sends them to the attackers. Attackers have long used similar apps to get users to divulge their banking information.

Threat actors then call potential victims, pretending to be bank employees, to notify them of security incidents regarding their accounts and ask them to change their PINs and verify their cards. Victims who fall for the social engineering ruse receive a link to download NGate, which then performs a series of steps to enable fraudulent ATM withdrawals. ESET says, “Once installed and opened, NGate displays a fake website that asks the user to enter their banking information, which is then sent to the attacker’s server.”

The malware prompts the victim to enter the bank’s customer ID, date of birth, card PIN and other sensitive information.ESET said it also asks the victim to enable NFC on the smartphone and place the payment card on the back of the smartphone until the malicious application recognizes the card. At this point, NGate captures NFC data from the victim’s card and sends it through a server to the attacker’s Android device.

The attacker’s Android phone would need to be rooted, or compromised at the kernel level, for it to be able to use the relayed data. The NFC data allows the attacker to essentially clone the victim’s card on their smartphone and use it to make payments and withdraw money from ATMs that support the NFC feature.

If this method failed, the attacker’s fallback was to use the bank account data the victim had already provided to transfer funds from the victim’s account to other banks, ESET said. Stefanko says the attacker would have been able to steal funds from a victim account without NGate, using just the banking credentials they might have managed to obtain from a victim. But it would have been a bit more complicated, since they would need to first transfer money to their account and use a mule to withdraw the money from an ATM.

Since NGate enables fraudulent ATM withdrawals, an attacker would have been able to steal from a victim’s account without leaving a trail back to their own accounts.

Prevention

Ensuring safety from such complex attacks requires the use of certain protective steps against tactics like phishing, social engineering, and Android malware. These steps include:

  • Checking the website’s authenticity. This can be done by looking at the URL to make sure the website isn’t a fake version of a genuine one.
  • Only downloading apps from official sources, such as the Google Play store. This precaution significantly reduces the risk of unknowingly installing harmful software.
  • Keeping payment card PIN codes secret. This important information should be kept safe at all times.
  • Using security apps on mobile devices that can stop potentially unwanted software and malware, like NGate, from being downloaded and installed. These security apps add an extra layer of defense by continuously scanning and monitoring for threats.
  • Turning off the NFC function on devices when it’s not needed. This step helps to prevent any unauthorized access or data transfer via NFC.
  • Using protective cases or protectors for radio frequency identification (RFID) cards. By creating a barrier that blocks unwanted RFID scans, these can stop anyone from stealing NFC data from the card.
  • Using digital versions of physical cards on smartphones. These virtual cards are stored securely on the device and can be protected by additional security measures, such as biometric authentication, making them a safer and more convenient alternative to traditional plastic cards.

How to Increase Upload Speed

10 Tips to Improve Upload Speed
Upload speeds can be affected by a variety of factors, including hardware, software, and firmware. Older modem processors may be limiting your upload speeds, while unwanted software may be consuming resources and slowing down data transfers. Additionally, your Internet service itself could be the problem.

>>>>>>>>>>Gateway GWNC21524-BK BL GR RD – Battery 3588B6-2S 5000mAh

Here are ten steps you can take to help improve your upload speeds:

微信截图_20240826160203.png

1. Get a faster internet connection
If you’ve been on the same plan for a while, you may be able to upgrade your Internet without spending more money. Sometimes it’s as simple as calling your ISP (Internet Service Provider) and threatening to cancel – they may offer a new modem or upgrade your plan for free to keep you from leaving. If they don’t budge, shop around for a better deal with another provider. If you’re flexible about which ISP you use, take advantage of available promotions, but ensure that any service you choose offers good upload and download speeds—ideally, at least 20 Mbps for uploads and 100 Mbps for downloads for smooth and consistent internet.
2. Clear your cache and cookies
Cache and cookies accumulate as you browse the internet, and leaving them unchecked can result in a buildup of data that can take up significant disk space and may even impact performance. Clearing cookies can potentially make your computer faster and can also help to free up RAM.What’s more, malware can exploit cache and cookies to carry attacks that can steal your data, which is another reason to practice good computer hygiene.

3. Using a wired connection
A wired Ethernet connection almost always improves Internet upload speeds – using a wired connection eliminates a lot of potential interference. A wired connection has a higher throughput than a Wi-Fi connection, which means more data can be sent per second. It’s a surefire way to increase both upload and download speeds. All you need to do is connect an Ethernet cable from your router to your computer.

4. Restart or reset your router
Rebooting or resetting the router can resolve upload speed issues by clearing temporary data and configurations that may interrupt your Internet connection. Power off and unplug the router for at least 30 seconds before rebooting.

5. Update your router’s firmware
Firmware is software that interacts directly with device hardware. Many modern routers update firmware automatically, but sometimes you need to apply new firmware updates manually to help your router work more efficiently.

6. Use a VPN
Your ISP can throttle your connection, possibly because they believe you’re consuming too much data or to regulate network traffic. By hiding your online activity from your ISP, VPNs can help prevent slow upload speeds resulting from bandwidth throttling.

7. Use security software
Using trusted antivirus software is important for your online security and can have positive knock-on effects on upload speeds. If your device becomes infected with malware it can consume bandwidth and interfere with your network, slowing down your internet speed.

8. Limit the number of devices and apps running simultaneously
Bandwidth-hungry apps can drain your internet connection and slow your upload speed. Additionally, the more devices connected to a single router, the slower your internet will run.

9. Move your router
Optimizing your router placement to improve the strength and stability of your connection can increase your internet upload speed. But if it’s not possible to move it because of the layout of your home, there are other ways to extend your Wi-Fi range like using a Wi-Fi extender.

10. Update your drivers
Outdated, incompatible or corrupted computer drivers can negatively affect your entire system. Similarly, updated network drivers can help improve your upload speeds if there are glitches or errors. >>>>>>>>>>Gateway GWTN141-10BK GWTN141-4 GWTN156-5BL GWTN141-4BL – Battery 5376275P 4500mAh
