According to information shared by McGuire Wood, editor at Appleosophy and a well-known leaker, Apple is indeed considering integrating a Touch ID fingerprint reader under the AMOLED screen of the iPhone 13. This is a first for the Cupertino giant, which has been banking everything on Face ID since 2017.
THE REDUCED NOTCH OF THE IPHONE 13 IS ALSO CONFIRMED
The informant claims that Touch ID has recently been approved by Apple, probably after several internal experiments. Obviously, it is still possible that the American group will change its mind in the coming months, by the time the mass production of smartphones.
On Twitter, the leaker confirms the appearance of a notch of reduced size. Apple would have recently approved this design change. The brand’s engineers would now place the speaker above the TrueDepth sensors, in the top edge, rather than in the center of the notch. This design cuts down on the size of the notch. McGuire Wood confirms the veracity of the stolen photo that appeared at the end of March showing several glass protections for the iPhone 13 range.
Finally, he assures that Apple aims to launch an iPhone 13 Pro Max without any charging port. The manufacturer would bet everything on the magnetic charging MagSafe inaugurated last year with the iPhone 12. True to its usual schedule, Apple should announce the new iPhone 13 as early as the end of September 2021. The industry-wide chip shortage, however, could delay the arrival of the lineup.
